Thomas J. Wheeler, Jr.
Thomas J. Wheeler, Jr. is President of Self Insured Solutions. Mr. Wheeler received his BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and holds the Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) professional designation.
Mr. Wheeler has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. In 1996, he started one of the first self insured group programs in Nevada. That program grew into the largest group in the state and in 1999, became Nevada’s first captive insurers.
Mr. Wheeler is currently a Board member of Nevada Contractors Insurance Company, Builders Insurance Company, California Contractors Network Self Insured Group, California Agricultural Network Self Insured Group, California Farm Management Self Insured Group, California Livestock Producers Self Insured Group and California Agricultural Products Self Insured Group.
David G. Johnson
David G. Johnson, Esq. is a shareholder with Leach Johnson Song & Gruchow. Mr. Johnson’s practice area focuses on representation of common-interest communities, property management and development, land use, real estate and numerous business organizations, and involvement with insurance organizations in Nevada and California.
From 1997 to 1999, Mr. Johnson served on the Board of Directors for Community Association Institute of Southern Nevada, serving as President of the organization in 1997. Mr. Johnson also served as a member of the organization’s Legislative Action Committee. Mr. Johnson has been an instructor at the Community College of Southern Nevada in business law and constitutional law courses. Mr. Johnson represents numerous common-interest communities throughout Southern Nevada. Mr. Johnson also serves as judge protem for the Henderson Municipal Court system.
Mr. Johnson currently serves as Legal Counsel for Self Insured Solutions and five self insured workers’ compensation groups in California. He presently serves as the president of the California Association of Self Insured Groups (“CASIG”), an Association of Self Insurance Group Administrators. Mr. Johnson received his Juris Doctor from J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1990, and his Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University in 1987.
Coll A. Thomson
Coll A. Thomson brings more than 20 years of insurance experience to his role as Vice President of Self Insured Solutions. Mr. Thomson began his insurance career as a claims adjuster with State Farm where he handled cases ranging from auto accidents to storm-related coverage in Nevada, Texas and Oklahoma. In 1994, Mr. Thomson joined Insurance Solutions, an independent retail commercial insurance agency, as an Agent. Mr. Thomson was promoted to Sales Manager in 1996 and was made a Vice President in 2000.
In 2003, Mr. Thomson became a partner in Self Insured Solutions and helped form one of the first private Self Insured Groups in the state of California. As Vice President and Partner with Self Insured Solutions, Mr. Thomson’s area of expertise is underwriting.
Joseph J. Wheeler
Joseph J. Wheeler began his insurance career as a life and health agent in 1986. Working with his brother, Tom, Mr. Wheeler helped create Insurance Solutions and assisted in creating one of Nevada’s first and, at that time, largest Self Insured Groups.
From 2000 until 2008, Mr. Wheeler published The Construction ZONE, Nevada’s leading publication for subcontractors. His writing has won several awards, including the Stimson Essay Contest, the Nevada Screenwriting Competition, and the American Screenwriting Award. Mr. Wheeler has been published in the Las Vegas Review Journal, a number of small presses, and wrote a featured historical essay presented by the Jedediah Smith Society.
In 2003, Mr. Wheeler became a Partner in Self Insured Solutions and helped form one of the first private Self Insured Groups in the state of California. As Vice President and a Partner with Self Insured Solutions, Mr. Wheeler’s area of expertise is safety and loss control.
